No Human Or Horse Injuries In I-70 Rollover Accident

Speed is believed to be the cause of a rollover accident on westbound Interstate 70 involving a jeep and a trailer carrying horses. According to the Grand Junction Police Department who responded to the accident, the male driver of the jeep apparently rear–ended the horse trailer, lost control of his vehicle and flipped over after colliding with a guardrail. The man was conscious and breathing when emergency crews arrived on–scene, he was taken to St. Mary's Hospital with injuries that are believed to be minor.

I–70 was reduced to one lane in both directions for nearly an hour, but did not cause any traffic tie–ups. Due to the damage of the horse trailer, emergency crews had to extricate the horses. The accident is still under investigation and it is unknown whether the driver of the jeep will be cited.
