Authorities have determined that an apartment fire Monday night in Clifton was not an accident. The blaze destroyed an apartment at 481 32 1/8 Road causing upwards of $100,000 dollars in damage and leaving four families without a home.
An investigation into the cause of the fire has led authorities to believe that there was some foul play involved after eye witnesses to the fire told authorities what they saw in the minutes prior to the complex going up in flames. Witnesses spoke of juveniles that had set a couch on fire that then started the apartment blaze. The Mesa County Sheriff's Department has taken over the investigation. No arrests have been made.
