As temperatures rise, so do energy bills. However Home Depot has some tips to keep your homes cool, while saving money and energy at the same time.
Install a Ceiling Fan:
Ceiling Fans can save you up to 40% on your air conditioning in the summer. Just set the fan to rotate counter clockwise and when used with your air conditioner or swamp cooler, the breeze will cool your room by an additional 8 to 10 degrees. Purchasing an energy star qualified fan can be 10% more efficient, further cutting costs.
Weather Proof Your Home:
Making sure that your doors and windows are efficiently insulated will keep costs down. Also, a programmable thermostat can also save a lot of energy and money by raising the temperature of the home while you are at work and lowering the temperature just as you get home.
