The quick thinking of security guards during a fire at the Double Tree hotel saved thousands of dollars in damage. Around 11:00 Sunday night the Grand Junction Fire Department answered the call of a fire alarm at the hotel. The fire department says some curtains in one of the rooms started on fire and hotel workers attacked the flames with a fire extinguisher managing to put it out before the sprinklers went off.
Several people were treated for smoke inhalation and injuries from the fire extinguisher powder, but everyone checked out fine. The damage has been estimated at $100 dollars.
