A four–year old boy is taken to St. Mary's Hospital this afternoon in unknown condition after being hit by a van in Grand Junction. Just after 3:15pm, emergency personnel responded to reports of a child being hit by a van as it was backing up. The driver of the minivan, identified as Mark Kruckeberg of Clifton, hit the boy.
Kruckeberg was visiting friends at the company when the accident happened.
The extent of the child's injuries are unknown at this hour, but he was conscious and breathing when he left the scene by ambulance.
Charges could be filed pending the outcome of the investigation.
