Fruita Growing Pains

It was standing room only as concerned citizens filled the Civic Center hearing room. The issue that brought so many out included a developer that has come to the planning commission asking for a change in the 2020 plan. The plan determines how Fruita will grow over the next 15 years. The request involves Fruita annexing 300 acres North of the city, which will potentially be the sight of a new golf course and nearly 400 housing units. Some feel that the addition will be good for Fruita's economy, others fear the growth could change what they love about home. The planning commission listened to all arguments and will give their recommendation to the Fruita city council.
