Quite a mess in Fruitvale this Saturday morning as a driver making a delivery to a gas station spills several gallons of fuel. It happened at the Loco Food Store at 29 and F Roads.
The Grand Junction Fire Department responded just after nine o'clock to a report of 150 or more gallons of gas spilled. Apparently the driver of the fuel truck was dispensing gas into a storage tank when a valve broke. Some of the gas leaked into a storm drain.
Officials with the Persigo Wastewater Treatment Plant were notified, however it's not known whether the spilled fuel will impact the water supply.
Firefighters used sand to cover the spill and a private company was called in to complete the clean up. No injuries were reported.
