Rim Rock Elementary Celebrates Ribbon Cutting

This week Mesa County School District 51 is celebrating the completion of its brand new facilities, marking the milestone with the first of six ribbon cutting ceremonies.

The new Rim Rock Elementary School in Fruita will open for classes on Monday, but following the ribbon cutting Thursday members of the community had the opportunity to cruise the hallways and check out all the new facility has to offer. The 55–thousand square foot building will accommodate more than five hundred students in kindergarten through 5th grade during the upcoming school year. The 50 or so staff members have been working for the past several weeks to get the building ready for learning and are looking forward to seeing the kids in the classrooms.

It took about a year for Bassett and Associates construction to complete the building at a price tag of more than $9.2 Million. Ribbon cutting ceremonies at each of the five other district construction projects are scheduled for Friday.
