Monday marks the first day of school for District 51 and all that back to school shopping has made for the second most profitable weeks for at least one Grand Junction retailer
The National Retail Federation expected the average family to spend more on back to school shopping this year. According to employees at Target, those estimates were right on. This past week, school supplies have run thin at the store in the Mesa Mall, especially the basics- like pens, pencils, and paper. A Target manager says the addition of five new schools in the Grand Valley has contributed to the increase in sales. The store expects the back to school shopping season to taper down after the first week of school.
