Plan B In Mesa County

For years the Mesa County Health Department has been providing women of all ages with the morning after pill. They say they'll continue to until they're told to do otherwise by health officials.

The department administers the emergency contraceptive to most everyone who needs it. Parental consent is not needed and patients do not have to subject themselves to an exam. But they are asked to take a pregnancy test to ensure they're not already pregnant and they are asked to visit with a nurse.

The morning after pill can be taken up to five days after having unprotected sex. The Mesa County Health Department charges on a sliding scale. Depending on ones income it can be $0 to $35. Appointments are preferred.
