Provisions for the 2002 Farm Bill are set to run out this year, and in order to ensure a solid future for farmers, Congressman John Salazar is visiting farm communities around the state to get feedback on the 2007 Farm Bill.

Salazar said it is important to get feedback to make improvements to the current farm bill. One provision Salazar would like to add would help the country find alternative fuel sources and become more energy independent. The proposed provision would entice farmers to farm crops that produce oil or ethanol products.

Salazar also said that he believes that by the year 2025, 25% of the nation's energy will be produced from ranches and farms.
