The truck was heading east on I - 70 when it’s airline broke, causing the rear tires to lock up and catch on fire. The contents the truck was carrying, a very concentrated pigment that is used to color concrete and asphalt, leaked on to the roadway while the fire was being extinguished.

The Colorado Department of Transportation had crews working on clean – up; washing the dye of the roadway into a ditch and then pumping it into a truck.

Just before 5:00 this evening, crews finished clean up and the eastbound lanes of I – 70 re - opened for traffic.
