Governor Bill Owens has asked the Colorado Bureau of Investigation to give high priority into the probe that gubernatorial hopeful, Bob Beauprez, illegally obtained information.

The Bill Ritter campaign is accusing Beauprez of illegally obtaining criminal justice records. Officials from Ritter's camp say the records were used in a campaign commercial that accused Ritter, who served as the Denver district attorney for several years, of accepting plea agreements with criminals who did not go to prison and later committed crimes.

Bob Beauprez's campaign manager, John Marshall, says they did obtain the information legally. He also said that they are being cooperative with the investigation, and won't publicly comment until the investigation is complete.
