Bad Weather Hangs On; More Expected

National Weather Service forecasters say we should brace ourselves more for bad weather as rain and wind continues to lash the Grand Valley.

Some don't mind the rainy weather as ducks take advantage of a pool of water on the Redlands that usually isn't there. As of 11 Tuesday morning the National Weather Service reported nearly one–half inch of rain at Walker Field Airport since midnight.

Elevations over 7–thousand feet have seen up to a foot of snow, with higher mountains getting two feet or more. Though the valley has seen some wind it's nothing compared to the 44 mile–per–hour gusts seen on the Grand Mesa overnight.

So far there have been few reported problems in Mesa County, but meteorologists says saturated soils could bring landslides to some areas of the Western slope.

Recent rains caused one rock slide Sunday morning on highway 133 near Paonia dam, but both lanes of the road are open at this time.
