The cancellation of flu shot clinics isn't just happening in Mesa County as health officials all across Colorado are running short of the precious vaccine.
So far three scheduled clinics have been can celled by the Mesa County Health Department due to delays in shipments. It takes months to make vaccine, and that combined with increased demand and fewer companies making the product has resulted in the delays.
The federal Centers for Disease Control says even though
distribution is sporadic it's taking place at a record pace, with some 75 million doses already distributed nationwide by the end of this month.
