Judge Grants Former Teacher More Time

For the third time a former award winning elementary school teacher facing methamphetamine and marijuana charges delays her court hearing.

Lee, formerly known as Tammie Lee Reed, arrived in court alone Monday morning where she was granted six more weeks to hire a lawyer.

Lee's 2005 methamphetamine possession charge is a class four felony which carries a minimum sentence of six years. The former first grade teacher was arrested for a second time last month on suspicion of check fraud and methamphetamine possession.

Mesa County School District 51 fired Lee last week from her job at Lincoln Orchard Mesa Elementary school for neglect of duty.

She faces a slew of charges including obstruction of a peace officer, violation of bail–bond conditions and tampering with evidence. She is expected back in court in early December.
