A group who wants tighter air quality restrictions put on the oil and gas drilling companies, took their case to the Mesa County Commissioners Monday morning.

Western Colorado Congress proposed tighter air quality regulations that would be similar to that of the Front Range. The Mesa County Commissioners did not accept their case, saying the proposal is too strict.

But they are accepting a proposal by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment that would put some restrictions on the oil and gas drilling industry.

The hearing for the new regulations proposed by the state will be heard at a hearing this Friday and Saturday in Denver. If adopted, the rule will require oil and gas drilling companies to reduce the emissions of pollutants produced by condensate tanks.
