A Grand Valley couple is finally set to build a car wash on the Redlands, this after one final attempt to thwart the project is rejected.
In August, Grand Junction's planning commission approved a conditional use permit to Mikel and Roxanne Lewis to build the Canyon View Car Wash, however, the decision was appealed by surrounding neighbors who were against the idea.
On Wednesday, city council had the task of either overturning the permit approval or letting the project go forward and the decision to finally issue a conditional use permit is a welcome relief to the couple who have spent nearly a decade getting the car wash built.
Weather permitting, the groundbreaking should happen in January, with the first cars rolling through the wash next spring.
