Don't Eat and Drive Says Lawmaker

We've probably all talked on the phone or eaten food while driving, but one lawmaker wants drivers to pay. if they get caught.

Louisville, Colorado lawmaker Paul Weismann plans to introduce a bill in the state house next month that would double fines if a driver is using a cell phone or eating and is stopped for a traffic offense.

There have been several attempts by the legislature in the past to limit cell phone use, but all have failed. Weismann says his law has a better chance of passing because it only increases fines instead of creating new law.

Lawmakers return to work on Wednesday, January 10.
