A Flash Flood Warning has been issued for Mesa, Delta, Gunnison, Garfield, Eagle and Pitkin Counties through 4:36 p.m. Friday. The National Weather Service issued the alert.
According to the National Weather Service Web site, Doppler Radar indicated slow moving thunderstorms with very heavy rainfall across the area.
The Web site says runoff from this excessive rainfall will cause flash flooding to occur.
Flash Flood Warnings mean flooding is occurring or is imminent. Most flood-related deaths occur in automibiles. Do not attempt to cross water-covered bridges, dips or low water crossings. Officials warn never try to cross a flowing stream, no matter the size, on foot or in a vehicle.
