According to U.S. Geological records, large earthquakes are very rare in Colorado.

According to U.S. Geological records, large earthquakes are very rare in Colorado.

The largest one in Colorado's history was back in 1882 and registred a 6.6 magnitude.

In 1967 two earthquakes hit Denver both registering around five on the ritcher scale.

Here in Grand Junction, earthquakes happen quite frequently.

The U.S.G.S. says the Redlands fault next to the monument registeres quakes of about 1.52, however almost all are too small to be felt by anyone in the area.
