GJ Lions Club Announces Grant Recipients

A local service group hands out more than $100,000 worth of grants Monday to area non–profits.

At a press conference Monday morning the Grand Junction Lions Club announced the recipients of $100,350 in grants. The Lions Club pledged to give Hospice and Palliative Care $100,000 over the next four years. This is the largest donation in the clubs history.

Grand Valley River Park got $20,000 to build a restroom. Mesa View Elementary School's PTO was given more than $9,750 to build a new playground. And thanks to Lions Club, Palisade High School will soon have a new baseball scoreboard.

Ariel Clinical Services and the Tree House Organization each received more than $10,000 to purchase new vans.

The Western Colorado Math and Science Center received $5,000 to construct science kits for elementary students.

Over the years the Lions Club has given away more $3 Million to a wide variety of community projects.
