Mesa County is urging residents this month to test their home for elevated levels of radon.
Radon is a naturally occurring invisible, odorless gas that can be very dangerous when trapped inside buildings. Because radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer, the Mesa County Health Department wants citizens to test for radon inside their homes.
Colorado ranks 7th in the nation for radon.
Short term radon test kits are available for purchase from the CSU Extension Office for $7.00. The office is located at the Mesa County Fairgrounds.
