Troopers Led On Highway 50 High Speed Chase

Colorado State Patrol is looking for an Alabama man who led authorities on a high speed chase along Highway 50 Monday night.

The pursuit happened after 29-year-old James Woods was pulled over at mile marker 49 on Highway 50 for doing 80 mph in a 65 mph zone.

Woods took off when the trooper learned the 29-year-old had two outstanding felony warrants in Alabama.

Speeds reached 100 mph along Highway 50 and Woods' rear tire was flattened near D Rd. by stop sticks, but the driver kept going finally arriving at his residence on 32 and 1/8 Rd. where he fled on foot.

K-9 officers tracked Woods and it appears that he escaped in another vehicle, but while still at large, police are not concerned with finding the fugitive.

"We know where he's at, we know where he lives, so we'll type up a warrant and the next time he's contacted he'll be arrested on those charges," Corporal Dennis Fox said.

Woods is wanted in Alabama for a parole violation as well as theft.
