The Grand Junction Fire Department is called out to Mesa State College Wednesday to contain flooding in one of its new residence halls.
According to officials a waterline in the building's sprinkler system broke causing water to spill onto all three floors and into a couple of dorm rooms. Damage is estimated at about $8,000-$10,000. Crews were able to lay out tarps and protect other areas of the dorm.
Officials with the fire department say they suspect the pipe may have burst because of the recent cold temperatures however they don't know for sure.
30-40 students were evacuated during the flood but no one was injured.
