Arrest Of Fruita Man Ends Year-Long Crash Investigation

A year–long investigation by the Colorado State Patrol leads to the arrest of a Fruita man for vehicular homicide.

It was originally thought that 34–year–old Molly Gomez of Grand Junction was the driver of the car in which she was killed.
and 24–year–old Jade Brandon Huskey was a passenger. An extensive investigation including a scene reconstruction, interviews and other information lead patrolmen to finally conclude that Huskey was actually the driver.

The February, 2006 crash happened just before midnight when a Ford Mustang went off Interstate 70 near Fruita at more than 100 miles an hour and through a guard rail. Huskey and Gomez were ejected from the car.

Huskey is thought to have been intoxicated and is charged with criminal vehicular homicide, D-U-I and reckless driving. He voluntarily surrendered to troopers under a 50–thousand dollar bond.
