First "Long-term-stay" Hotel Opens In Grand Junction

Employees were putting the final polish to windows and brass today as Grand Junction's first Residence Inn at the Marriott opens it's doors.
The 104– room hotel is a specialty inn offering suites complete with small kitchens, as well as a billiard room, swimming pool and an outdoor grill for guests to use.

The Residence Inn caters to the person who requires long–term stays, which the manager says fits the needs of many. "There is no other extended–stay hotel in Grand Junction, says Manager Hunter Carmichael. "So this is what the market needs the most. The housing and the apartments and the retirement homes are all at capacity, and we can help in all those areas because we have a building that can cater to any of those."

Rooms at the Hotel start at 129 dollars a day for short-term stays and drop to 69 dollars a day for long-term guests.

Also opening soon is the adjacent Marriott Courtyard, a more traditional hotel for the traveler who needs overnight accommodations. Both facilities are on Horizon Drive just south of Walker Field.
