Rockslide Slows Glenwood Canyon Traffic

It was slow going for several hours along Interstate-70 in Glenwood Canyon Saturday morning, as a rockslide caused headaches for drivers, but minimal damage.

According to the Colorado State Patrol, the slide happened just west of the Hanging Lake Tunnel shortly before 7 a.m. Saturday.

One car was struck by a piece of rock about 2.5' wide and 5-6' long.

The driver was not injured and it took CDOT crews about three hours to clean up the slide.

State patrol advises drivers to be cautious while driving through rockslide prone areas, as warming temperatures and ice starting to melt in some spots, rockslides are more common this time of year.
