A skateboarder is hit by a truck while crossing a busy Street near Mesa State College Tuesday morning.
According to the Grand Junction Police Department, the 17–year–old was crossing 12th Street on his skateboard when he ran into a pick–up truck. He clipped the left front bumper and was knocked to the ground. The teenager got a little scraped up and was treated at the scene.
Officials say this stretch of 12th Street by the college is one that motorists and pedestrians need to be cautious of.
The driver of the truck was cited for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk and the teen was ticketed for riding a skateboard on a roadway.
