Police Department Narrows Down Recruits

It was a competitive three days for those who participated in the Grand Junction Police Department's recruiting process.

On Monday 77 people showed up hoping they would make the grade to become 911 dispatchers. But after three days of intense testing only four people made it through. Officials say the first day of timed written tests took the biggest toll on the group.

65 people came out hoping they would get the chance to become police officers. But that number quickly decreased as only seven people ended up making it through all the testing.

Everyone who passed had to take a computerized lie detector test and a suitability test. If they pass those then they'll move onto a background check which could take up to a month.
