Investigations are underway into two separate workplace accidents in Mesa County that sent two workers to the hospital.
In the first accident, fifty year old Richard Mcleese was working on a conveyor belt at a gravel pit in DeBeque when rocks got jammed in the belt. Once the rocks were freed the belt started moving again sucking him in.
Mcleese was air lifted to St. Mary's Hospital and is currently in serious condition.
In another accident, this one at the construction site of the Grand Junction Parking Garage, Arturo Carolla– Andrade was working when a crane came crashing down near him causing him to fall. Carolla– Andrade was taken to the hospital and is currently in fair condition.
Lafarge is currently investigating the incident in DeBeque and OSHA is expected in arrive in Grand Junction on Monday to look into the accident at the Grand Junction Parking Structure.
