Dead Mouse Found in Bag of Chips at School

Colorado Springs, Colo. (AP) School officials say a middle school student's claim of finding a dead mouse inside a bag of Frito-Lay barbecue potato chips appears credible.

The eighth-grader opened the bag of chips during lunch at Lewis-Palmer Middle School in Monument this week.

School personnel interviewed the student's parents and other children who were sitting at the table, and determined it did not appear to be a prank.

Frito-Lay officials did not immediately return a message the Associated Press left at Frito-Lay's Colorado Springs office.

A district official says all chips have been temporarily pulled from vending machines and lunch lines.
