Grand Junction area residents won a victory in the State Capitol on Tuesday when Senate Bill 200, which is sponsored by State Representative Bernie Buescher, passed through the House.
This bill will extend the deadline for cleaning up uranium mill tailings in the area. The effort was scheduled to end in July of this year and it will now be extended another ten years. Representative Buescher says it's his priority to ensure that families, homes, and businesses are safe and that property owners are able to maintain the value of their property.
The bill now goes on to Governor Bill Ritter's desk.
