Teen In Intensive Care After Falling Off Car

One teen is seriously injured and two others are hurt after falling off a moving car.

Some witnesses say the teens were doing what's known as car surfing, but others say the driver may not have even known the other teens were riding on the car.

The accident happened in Clifton around 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday night. According to the Colorado State Patrol, three teenage boys were riding on the trunk of a Pontiac Grand Prix when they fell off the passenger side of the car. A 16–year–old was rushed to St. Mary's Hospital with serious head injuries and was in intensive care Wednesday morning.

The other two boys walked away with only some bumps and bruises. Authorities gave them tickets for hanging on to a moving vehicle. The 16–year–old driver of the car was cited with careless driving and causing bodily injury. He's also charged with eight counts of having unauthorized passengers in his car because he's had his driver's license for less than six months.
