Colorado-Based Soldier Dies in Iraq

Pentagon (AP) A Colorado-Based soldier is dead as the result of a bomb explosion in Iraq.

The Pentagon says 24-year-old Sergeant Joe Polo of Opa-Locka, Florida died Thursday when enemy forces attacked his unit with small arms fire and an improved explosive device.

Polo was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 12th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, and was headquartered at Fort Carson.

Polo's death is the 190th for Fort Carson since the beginning of the Iraq War.
