A van filled with suspected illegal immigrants leads authorities on a short pursuit down Interstate 70 in Mesa County Sunday morning.
Just before 11:00 a.m. the Colorado State Patrol tried to pull over a van on east bound Interstate 70 near the Horizon Drive exit. The driver didn't stop right away and led troopers on about an eight mile slow–speed chase. The driver eventually pulled over, but because of the suspicious behavior troopers made a "high risk" stop with guns drawn.
There were seven hispanic men in the van. The driver was taken to the Mesa County jail and faces misdemeanor eluding charges and is being held there by Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The six passengers are being held at the ICE facility in Grand Junction.
It's believed the van was traveling from Phoenix to North Carolina.
