Airport Dog Needs A Home

Now that she's not roaming the grounds of Walker Field Airport, the dog that was caught needs a loving home.

Mesa County Animal Services captured this dog Saturday morning and has since turned her over to the Roice Hurst Humane Society who has named her Ava.

Officials had originally thought Ava may be a hybrid wolf but say she actually a husky mix. Ava is friendly, affectionate and in need of a good home. She'll be up for adoption in just seven days. For more information about how to adopt Ava or if she belongs to you call 434–7337.

The decision to capture Ava was made after airport officials expressed safety concerns that she might wander onto the runway and cause an accident.
