Here in Colorado we have our fair share of extreme weather.
Governor Bill Ritter has proclaimed the week of April 15th to the 21st Colorado Severe Weather Awareness Week.

Thunderstorms make for some of the most powerful weather on earth. These storms bring along more than just rain. Just last year lightning caused five deaths here in Western Colorado, which is up from the average of three deaths per year. Lightning is also the cause of nearly 25 hundred wildfires every year.

Experts say that safest place is inside a building away from windows or open doors and second is in a hard top car. If lightning is in the area then you should hunker down and never stand by the tallest object around you.
