Because there have been no apparent signs of a missing man believed to be in the desert area north of Grand Junction, search efforts have been temporarily suspended.
Richard Garcia was last seen at his home Sunday afternoon. His family says he left to run errands and never returned. They were able to get a hold of him on his cell phone several hours later and he said he was lost in the desert.
Two dozen search and rescue workers searched through the night in the desert area around 16 Road. The search continued Monday morning with the assistance of a fixed wing aircraft.
Garcia is described as 5' 8", 200 pounds. He was driving a blue Ford F–250 pick-up truck.
