Following an internal harassment complaint, the Town of De Beque is launching an investigation against its mayor.
A special meeting was held at the De Beque community center Monday night, with the town board going into executive session for nearly an hour.
The meeting was sparked by a town employee claiming Mayor Don Cramer was verbally abusive and inappropriate in the past, making a specific complaint.
The board decided to hire a third party to investigate the matter.
The findings will be released at a public meeting in the next month or so and no one with the town was willing to comment on the matter.
However, several in attendance were dismissive, saying the allegations at this point are strictly hearsay.
