Coroner: Man's BAC Was 0.309 At Time Of Fatal Crash

The man who was killed over the weekend when his truck rolled into a canal had almost four times the legal limit of alcohol in his body.

According to the Mesa County Coroner, 45–year–old Richard Schlagel had a blood–alcohol content of 0.309.

A blood–alcohol level of 0.08 is the legal limit for drivers.

Schlagel lost control of his truck after turning on a sharp left curve while driving on Colorado Highway 330 near Collbran Sunday afternoon.
