Starting Monday 39 cents will no longer be enough to send out letters.
First class one ounce U.S. letter stamps will increase to forty one cents and the cost to mail a post card will go up from 24 cents to 26 cents. This increase is needed to cover higher U.S. Postal Service operating expenses, such as high gas prices.
Even with this increase, Americans still have one of the lowest postage rates in the World. Canada's rate is 45 cents and Switzerland's is 82 cents. Again this rate change goes into effect tomorrow.
