Mesa County Residents Walk The World Twice

The challenge was to walk the world in eight weeks, Mesa County residents answered the call and ended up walking the world twice.

Participants in the LiveWell pedometer challenge walked 56,839 miles. That equals 127 round trips from Grand Junction to Denver, hiking Mount Garfield more than 14,000 times, and going around Stocker stadium track more than 200,000 times.

Together LiveWell participants burned more than five million calories.

11 News took part in the challenge, our team took more then three million steps.

The surgeon general recommends 10,000 steps a day to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
