Lynchburg, Va. (AP) A Liberty University executive says the Reverend Jerry Falwell has died.

Falwell, a television evangelist who founded Liberty University and the Moral Majority, became the face of the religious right in the 1980's.

Falwell was taken to a hospital after being found unconscious today in his office at the school he founded in Virginia. He was 73 years old.

An official at Liberty says Falwell was found unconscious in his office earlier today.

The official said he was not sure what caused the collapse, but that Falwell ``has a history of heart challenges.'' he added that Falwell seemed ``fine'' at breakfast this morning.

Falwell arrived at Lynchburg general hospital around noon.

Falwell survived two serious health scares in early 2005. He was hospitalized for two weeks with what was described as a viral infection. He was hospitalized again a few weeks later after going into respiratory arrest.
