Dozens gathered as the doors to the Summit View Treatment Facility opened on Thursday. This is the Western Slope's first and only long–term intensive meth treatment program. The residential facility is designed to help break methamphetamine users of their habit. Officials say it will help eliminate the demand for meth which will in turn eliminate the distribution.

Sheriff Stan Hilkey says, "The whole other purpose of this adds a much needed elimination of offenders."

The new building can house 140 people and when combined with the existing meth treatment facility, total daily capacity will be 212.
