The man accused of killing two Mesa State College students while driving drunk and allegedly trying to outrun police was in court Monday.
The families of both victims in the March crash, Jake Brock and Jennifer Kois were present at the Mesa County Justice Center for Patrick Strawmatt's preliminary hearing.
Strawmatt waived the hearing and will go straight to the arraignment hearing which will be held in August. He's also expected to enter a plea at that time. Strawmatt is facing two charges of first degree murder along with 20 other charges.
The District Attorney's Office is also waiting for autopsy reports from the coroner's office, as well as medical records concerning Strawmatt in the weeks before the accident.
11 News spoke to the family's of both Jennifer Kois and Jake Brock after the hearing. They declined to comment on camera and say the pain is still too fresh to talk about. However they do plan on returning to Grand Junction for the August arraignment.
