A drug trafficker with a major amount of marijuana and arrested while driving through Mesa County pleaded guilty Wednesday.
As part of a plea agreement with the Mesa County District Attorney's Office, Arnoldo Escalante-Gutierrez will be spending six years in prison.
Escalante-Gutierrez was stopped in February on Interstate–70 by the Colorado State Patrol near Loma for weaving.
Police searched his car and found 569 lbs of marijuana, packed in 24 bales.
The District Attorney's Office says the sentence is contingent on Escalante-Gutierrez having no prior felony convictions.
Sentencing will be in late July.
