Efforts to protect the Grand Junction and Palisade watersheds during drilling operations continue and are in the final phases.
Grand Junction City Council members were briefed Monday night on the progress.
Public comment has been accepted for the past several months for the document to protect the area's invaluable watershed. One more reading of the document with all the stakeholders in the process is needed, but according to public comment the bulk of the proposed document is sound.
The plan looks to adhere to strict management practices, water testing and contingent plans in case contamination were to happen.
Once complete the plan will go in front of city council for adoption.
