Two Routt County teenagers are dead after an oil storage tank they were jumping on explodes.
The accident happened late Saturday night at an oil well site about 68 miles northeast of Meeker.
Police say 17–year–old Samuel Hedemark of Phippsburg and 19–year–old Christopher King Fuller of Yampa, were with about 16 people partying near the tank. Witnesses say the teens were jumping up and down on the storage tank when it exploded. Their bodies were found about 400 feet from the tank, and a dog was also killed in the incident.
Officials believe alcohol was involved and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation has been called in to investigate.
