A mule in Collbran, Colorado had a baby and this has left veterinarians and scientists scratching their heads. The little baby boy was born in April. Now the owners and large animal experts are wondering how this happened. It's such a phenomenon because female and male mules are supposed to be sterile, but the new addition to the ranch has defied all odds.

The owner of the mule, Laura Amos says, " A mule is a hybrid animal, it's a cross between a horse and a donkey. It has 63 chromosomes, so how could those split?"

Experts are conducting intensive genetic testing to find out exactly how this happened. The family is asking for your input on naming the baby mule. To give a suggestion email Laura@winterhawk.com
